George (Jorge) Hurtado

George has been a member of the Camden Valley Country Music Club since 2007, in that time George has performed at the local nursing homes & has helped at the Bunnings Barbeques.

George emigrated to Australia in 1972 with his wife Maria & family. Although life in Australia has not been easy for the Hurtado’s, George's unshakeable faith & commitment to Australia & its way of life demonstrates a generosity of sprit moving to all who hear his songs.

His style is unmistakably South American yet these songs are an expression of his hopes & experiences in a new country. His theme is brotherhood & ties between the country of his birth & this “Great Continent”.

George has appeared in South American & Spanish clubs in Sydney & has recorded for the ABC radio & television. He has appeared at the First Series of Ethnic Music Concerts presented by Gail Holst at the Australia Music Centre. His pride in Australia has been demonstrated in song & recitation at many community & national celebrations.
